The Carnavalet museum is the most Parisian museum in the capital located in the center of Paris 3rd arrondissement near the Place des Vosges in the historic Marais district! It is passing under the imposing gate of Jerusalem, rue des Francs-Bourgeois, that one reaches the gardens of Musée Carnavalet. Upon entry, one enters a French garden of the seventeenth century adorned with masses of pink flowers and roses with poetic names like: Catherine Deneuve or lovers of peynet. Boxwood embroidery and cone-shaped shrubs add a touch of green to the landscape. In the background, just behind the large gallery communicating the two buildings, another French garden of the same period declines tones of blue, purple and white, in the center of which springs an imposing statue representing the victory. The Carnavalet museum presents collections of a great diversity where archaeological remains, views of the Paris of the past, decorative ensembles from missing buildings, portraits of famous Parisians, historical or anecdotal scenes, souvenirs of famous men or testimonies of daily life, as well as a unique set on the revolutionary period.
