The Palais Royal is a 17th century palace with gardens and galleries located on rue de Rivoli in the center of Paris near the French Academy, Place Vendome and Opera Garnier, opposite the Louvre Museum in the 1st arrondissement. The gardens are accessible and allow to appreciate the external architecture of the monument, which was entrusted to eminent architects such as Mansart then Constant d’Ivry, after the terrible fire of 1763. The Royal Palace consists mainly of a body central and its two wings surrounding the court of honor which is accessed through the vault. Each era has brought its architectural novelties: the double colonnade, work of restoration and which forms the Gallery of Orleans. The Proues Gallery recalls the maritime grandeur of Richelieu. The columns of Buren’s recent work (1980s) occupy the entire courtyard.
